Oropendola Cottage
A vacation rental near Maracas Beach, Trinidad

From the spacious upper deck there is an excellent view of the oropendola nests.

The cottage is at the end of a long driveway on a ten-acre estate surrounded by tropical forest. Because of the high deck, it is not suitable for families with small children.

Oropendola Nests
A flock of oropendolas nest here each year between December and March. They build hanging ("pendola" in Spanish) nests 3 to 5 feet long in a tree close to the cottage.

Oropendola Bird

The cottage is named for the Oropendola bird, with its gold ("oro" in Spanish) colored tail.

Place your mouse pointer over the picture to hear the song of the oropendola.
